Shoot Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I BOOK A SHOOT?
Get in touch via email, or the get in touch button, we’ll have a chat about the type of shoot you are interested in and arrange a date to suit you. If you want to chat first let me know, I am happy arrange a time to call over the phone.Once we’ve agreed upon a date, I will send you a booking email, which includes a contract. Once you have read and signed the contract and paid the deposit your session is booked! Dates/prices cannot be held without the deposit.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A LOCATION SHOOT?
We will either meet at the location or wander there together, and then we’ll explore the space as we go. I’ll gently guide you with prompts so you’re never left unsure of what to do, but truly, the magic lives in the in-between moments. My style is relaxed and lightly directed, giving you the freedom to connect and just be yourselves.

HOW DO I PREPARE MY HOME FOR AT HOME SHOOT?

We will be shooting in the rooms with the most natural light so please try to declutter these rooms by removing anything that you don’t want in the background of the images, especially by the windows, bed etcJust like my location sessions, at-home shoots are all about capturing natural, honest moments, this time in the comfort of your own space. I’ll gently guide you with prompts so you’re never left wondering what to do, but truly, it’s those quiet, in-between moments where the magic really unfolds. My approach is calm and lightly directed, giving you plenty of space to connect and simply be yourselves.

WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER
I’m based in Essex, but happy to cover Essex, Kent, London, Suffolk and Norfolk. There are additional travel fees outside of 25 miles. If I am travelling abroad or elsewhere in the UK and working whilst I’m there I will share this on Instagram for clients.

WHAT SHALL WE WEAR?

I suggest all wearing neutral colour clothing. For example, Dads can look more comfortable in a t-shirt or jumper, and mums in look lovely in a long dress, but whatever you feel most comfortable in. Often fancy newborn clothes don’t fit baby’s properly at this age and it is best to keep baby’s wardrobe simple with baby grows or sleep suits with no patterns on them to keep them timeless, also some nappy only shots wrapped in a blanket can be lovely. I do have a small client wardrobe of dresses for people who would like to wear one.

WHAT IF MY KIDS PLAY UP
Let’s be real do kids ever actually play ball? They’re going to be themselves, and that’s what I love most. I’ve worked with little ones for years, and have 3 of my own so I’ve seen it all, the big energy, the meltdowns, the quiet moments too. I build in plenty of time for cuddles, snacks, and all the unpredictability that comes with small humans. We’ll roll with whatever the day brings, and I promise, we’ll still capture something beautiful.

SHOULD WE BRING ANYTHING?

You’re welcome to bring along anything that feels like you, a cosy blanket, a picnic, a change of clothes, or anything special you’d love to include. If you’ve got a particular idea or vision, feel free to let me know ahead of time. For babies and kids, think about neutral-toned toys you wouldn’t mind seeing in your images. Teethers, snacks are all good. If you’d like a little bribery tool (no shame!), mini marshmallows are a great go-to quick to eat, not messy, and easy on the eye in photos.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Ah, the great British weather, always keeping us on our toes. If you’re happy to embrace the elements, I’m totally up for it too. Some of my favourite shoots have happened under stormy skies or light drizzle. But if you’ve got little ones or just don’t fancy getting soaked, we’ll simply reschedule for the next available date. If it’s really tipping it down or stormy, I’ll be in touch ahead of time so we can make a call together.

WE ARE NOT PHOTOGENIC AND AWKWARD
You wouldn’t believe how often I hear this — honestly, most of my couples or families say the same thing. It’s totally normal to feel a little nervous or unsure at first. I’ll always do my best to help you feel relaxed and at ease, and I promise you’ll never be left wondering what to do. I’ll guide you gently throughout, and most of the time, you’ll be too focused on each other to even think about the camera. By the end, I usually get a message saying how much fun it was and that’s exactly the vibe I’m going for.

THE SHOOT IS OVER, WHAT NOW?
Your images will be ready 4–6 weeks after your shoot.

CAN I DOWNLOAD MY IMAGES?
Yes, absolutely. You’ll have unlimited downloads from your gallery and can share it with family and friends too. The gallery will stay live for 30 day, so just make sure to save your images somewhere safe. You’re welcome to print them yourself (just make sure to use a good quality lab).

CAN I POST THE IMAGES ONLINE?
Of course! These are your memories, please share them if you’d like to. In your contract, there’s an option to let me know whether you’re happy for me to share your images on my website or social media too. Either way, they’re yours to enjoy and post. And if you feel like tagging me, I’d love to see how you share your story.
